Ramen bowl

Sometimes, I feel the need to step away from porcelain — and that’s always a good sign.

Stoneware is where every ceramicist begins. Some masterful artisans, whom I deeply admire, have stayed loyal to it — and still are. I am among those who turned to porcelain, but roots are never truly forgotten — or rather, they never forget us. They whisper when it’s time to return and pay attention.

The Far East has been one of the most important influences in my life. A warm meal shared with others is pure joy to me.

As an homage to that culture, I created this bowl with ramen in mind — but it’s equally perfect for any dish you wish to keep warm and whose aroma brings joy.

Handcrafted from dark stoneware, the bowl features a matte black surface with subtle metallic bronze undertones at the base. Gentle horizontal grooves follow its form, grounding it in quiet movement. Alongside them, fine vertical carvings — each line carefully incised by hand — add rhythm and presence, like silent brushstrokes in clay. The interior is subtly textured, holding the memory of touch: traces of fingers, gestures, and intention. It retains warmth beautifully and invites you to slow down, just like the moments we share around the table.
